The Journey so far…

Established in 2015, Platypus Training & Consultancy provides specialist training to parents, professionals and businesses about Autism and other neuro-diverse conditions.
As a parent of four children with Autism I am passionate about ensuring people with neuro-diversity are understood and celebrated for their unique perspective on the world.

Previously, I worked for a small charity as a Family Services Manager for over 12 years. During which time I was privileged to meet and support many other families with children with neurodiversity. It was here I first recognised the need for accessible training that was both informative and based on the research, but which also gave a realistic picture of life with Autism. In 2011 I received an award from the NAS for my support work after being nominated by a family. In 2017 I gained my Masters in Autism. My research focused on using storytelling as a way of increasing awareness of Autism in wider families and involved developing some resources for families to share.

As a trainer, I have been developing, writing and delivering workshops and courses for over 10 years. I am a licensed trainer for the Barnardo’s Cygnet Programme (a course for parents of children with Autism) plus other evidence based parenting programmes. Awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating for tutoring from Community Learning for the past 2 years.
