Family Support

Platypus can offer one-to-one parenting support, which is led by your needs as a family. This is a bespoke service that involves an assessment, support plan, coaching and signposting. Costs start from £40 per hour. Please get in touch for a quotation. Interest-free payment plans are available.

One-to-one support for Children & Young People

We can work flexibly with your child either in the school or home environment. We can support with understanding self, anxiety management and giving your child a voice. Sessions start at £40 per hour.

Sensory Screening & Report

Our Sensory Screening helps to identify sensory sensitivities and differences, while exploring practical strategies and tools that can support your child both at home and in school. This is a screening process and not a diagnostic assessment.

Understanding a child’s sensory profile can be key to understanding how they experience the world. With the right insights, families, schools and professionals can create more supportive environments where children feel safe, regulated and able to thrive.

As part of the screening, we develop a personalised sensory profile by gathering information from parents or carers, speaking with relevant professionals where appropriate, and carrying out a supportive observation of your child. You will receive a detailed, easy-to-understand written report with helpful recommendations — plus a FREE “Bag of Calm” to get you started with practical sensory tools.

SECURE Assessments

The SECURE Assessment is a Platypus-developed approach, offering a neuro-informed and holistic report that places your child’s experiences at the heart of understanding and support. This comprehensive assessment explores the key areas that shape your child’s day-to-day wellbeing and engagement:

  • Sensory

  • Emotional Well-Being

  • Communication

  • Understanding — recognising your child’s perspective and how they experience the world

  • Reasonable Adjustments

  • Energy Management

A SECURE Assessment can be especially helpful for children experiencing high levels of anxiety or who may be at risk of school avoidance. The report provides thoughtful guidance and practical recommendations designed to support families, schools and professionals in creating environments where your child can feel safe, understood and supported.

Autism & ADHD Screenings

We offer supportive, non-diagnostic screenings for both children and adults, designed to provide clearer understanding and helpful next steps.

Our screenings involve consultation with parents, carers and relevant professionals, along with observations and tailored activities where appropriate. The process is neuro-affirming and centred on understanding strengths, differences and individual needs.

You will receive a comprehensive written screening report, which can provide supportive evidence for:

  • Referrals for further assessment

  • SEN support processes

  • EHCP applications

  • Workplace adjustments and support planning

The report is written in a clear, accessible format, helping families, professionals and individuals feel confident when moving forward with support.
